Job Description

As a Technical Support Officer, you will provide essential technical, physical, and administrative support within the Bakery / Food Studies Department. You will contribute directly to the hands-on learning experience and help ensure that the classroom environment is fully equipped to meet the highest standards. This role involves working closely with educators and students to facilitate smooth lesson delivery, manage equipment, and maintain the quality of resources.

Job Position

Technical Support Officer – Bakery / Food Studies Department
Location: Tameside College, Ashton-Under-Lyne, Greater Manchester
Hours: 36 hours per week over 38 weeks (0.88 FTE)

Job Requirements

A relevant Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in a related field is preferred.
Knowledge of bakery practices is advantageous, but not essential.
Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
Enthusiastic, resilient, and highly motivated.
Experience in a technical support role within an educational or training environment is beneficial.

Responsibilities

Provide technical, physical, and administrative support to the Bakery / Food Studies Department.
Assist in setting up equipment and resources for practical lessons.
Support educators in ensuring lessons are delivered efficiently.
Maintain and manage equipment, ensuring it’s in good working order.
Assist with health and safety practices in the kitchen/laboratory environments.
Participate in the maintenance of technical documentation and records.
Contribute to a positive and effective learning environment for students.
Salary:
Salary details are competitive and will be discussed during the interview process. This position offers the security of joining the Local Government Pension Scheme, and it is structured as 0.88 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) over 38 weeks.
